Art lovers can feed their souls and stomachs at the Whole Foods Co-op's Hillside location this month.

Christine Valento's 6th graders have been studying the work of Duluth's watercolorist, Cheng-Khee Chee, and then got down to business creating their own works, which are on display at the Co-op.

Sue Rauschenfels

This week on Radio Gallery we head downtown Duluth to share some very friendly watercolor paintings, up at the Lake Superior Bakehouse for October. The work of local artist Sue Rauschenfels brings whimsy and warmth to images of a perfect Duluth day like the farmers market, Park Point and friends in the rain.  She also has a selection at work up at The Vanilla Bean in Two Harbors. Rauschenfels talks about finding inspiration and how knew she found her medium when she first tried watercolor.

40 years of the work of internationally recognized watercolorist Cheng-Khee Chee is being honored through September at UMD's Tweed Museum of Art.  "The Way of Cheng-Khee Chee: Paintings 1974-2014" opened last week.  In the weeks and months to come, events include an artist painting demonstration, workshops and various gallery talks.  Annie Dugan, the curator of the Duluth Art Institute, tells us more.
