Talking Politics

This morning we wrap up our Talking Politics series, checking in with our state legislators.  Freshmen Representative Jennifer Schultz is serving in her first elected public office and shares how this first session is going; from committee work to how she advocates for Duluth.

For Women’s History Month we honor Tina Smith, the newly elected Lt. Governor of Minnesota, extending the 30 years history of women who’ve held this elected position. Smith has been a trusted and integral part of our executive leadership in Minnesota and we look forward to her work as Lieutenant Governor of our great state.

KUMD continues "Talking Politics" with our state legislators.  Not every state has a two chambers, but Minnesota has a State House of Representatives and a State Senate. In our system, Duluth for all intents and purposes has one senator, Roger Reinert.

This month, KUMD is connecting you with your legislators as they enter into heavy debate in St. Paul on the 2015-16 Budget.  Some our Representatives have been at this longer than many, Mary Murphy, who has served our region for 39 years.
