When US and Canadian governments and industry, academic and nongovernmental stakeholders gathered earlier this summer for the Great Lakes Crude Move Oil Transportation Symposium, they didn't shy away from any of the hard questions.

  This fall, we're bringing you books about the Northland, from the Northland and by Northland authors.  The Northeastern Minnesota Book Awards - NEMBA - were established in 1988 to recognize books that "substantially represent northeastern Minnesota in the areas of history, culture, heritage, or lifestyle."

On March 23, 2015 the Duluth shipping season started with the departure of the "John G. Munson."   The  Duluth Seaway Authority's Adele Yorde says last year's demand for iron ore doesn't exist to the same degree this year as last, but the Port Authority's general cargo port will be plenty busy with cargo for the wind farm, oil and gas industries.
