The New Standards led by Twin Cities musicians  Chan Poling (The Suburbs) on piano, bassist John Munson (Trip Shakespeare, Semisonic), and Steve Roehm (Billygoat Electropolis) on vibraphone. They formed in 2005 to play and sing their favorite songs in a stripped down, acoustic setting.  The New Standards create jazz arrangements of recognizable hits from Dan Hicks to David Byrne, Bowie to Beck.

Laura Sellner debuted Superior Siren as a solo project in Duluth in 2012 expanding her atmospheric, eerie folk sound by adding cellist Rachel Gobin, bassist Nyssa Krause, and drummer Emma Deaner in 2015. The quartet released its first, much-anticipated self-titled debut on January 12, 2018. They joined us that afternoon to share songs from the album and talk about how the project has grown and changed.

Coyote in Studio A
KUMD

Local musicians Jerree Small and Marc Gartman have been making beautiful acoustic music together as Coyote for 10 years now. Along the way they added bass player Matt Mobley and released a handful of albums. In honor of the band's anniversary, they performed at Sacred Heart Music Center in Duluth on September 29. We got a preview when Small and Gartman joined us in the studio the same day.

Iowa-born/Minneapolis-based folk rock artists the The Pines have created a loyal following for their lush, layered sound and poetic lyrics inspired by the land and folklore of the American Midwest. (Sacred Heart)

Tune in on Saturday, March 12th for your chance to win tickets to the show!
