The Red Mug

A collection of new work is up at the Red Mug Coffeehouse of the work by painter Alexa Carson.  An art school and illustration graduate, she shares her passion for wildlife through painting.  Her current show is called "Usual Suspects" where she shares pieces that reflects the wildlife that you might encounter here in the Northland.  From bears to birds, Carson's work is light-hearted and primarily acrylic paint on canvas with some antique book collage as well.

Chris Monroe

Our guest today is Duluth artist, cartoonist, and author Chris Monroe, showing new work in December at the Red Mug Coffee House and Gallery in Superior. The show is called Creatures Were Stirring and includes a variety of themes of wild animals stealing food and other creature calamity.  Monroe has a tradition of sharing new work in December and the show will likely please the fans with some moderately sized and priced works.  The opening reception for Creatures Were Stirring happens this Thursday, December 3, 5-7pm.

Erik Pearson is a St. Paul artist with Superior roots who is the artist collaborating with the Superior Business Improvement District and the Superior Council for the Arts on a project called the "Back Door Project." He speaks with Radio Gallery about his exciting project of painting murals on the back entrances of buildings in Superior on Tower Avenue such as Who's Bar.
