Coming up on May 20th, just four days before his 75th birthday, Bob Dylan will release his 37th studio album, Fallen Angels

Like 2015's Shadows in the Night, this is a covers album showcasing Dylan's talents as a vocalist, arranger, and bandleader. It features twelve classic American tunes written by a variety of writers including Johnny Mercer, Harold Arlen, Sammy Cahn, and Carolyn Leigh; you can hear the lead single, "Melancholy Mood," now on KUMD.

Track Listing for Fallen Angels:

This Minneapolis trio joined us on February 26, 2016, a week before heading into the studio to work on a new album. Christine Dean chatted with guitarist Lee Henke, banjo player Ryan Acker, and bassist Vinnie Donatelle about how their bluegrass-influenced sound and songwriting has evolved since they last stopped by. The band also talked about their recent decision to quit their jobs, buy a van, and pursue music full time, and about their first visit to the Folk Alliance Conference. They performed a new tune, "Two Lines," the song "Iron & Ore" from their 2015 self-titled release, and "Lead Me Home"' from 2014's Uprooted.

The nontraditional bluegrass band from the Twin Cities, Ginstrings, joined us October 1, 2015. They played the same night at the Red Herring Lounge in Duluth.

Check out our session with this indie pop/rock group that got its start in Duluth from September 11, 2015. We talked about their latest project, Stories from the Road, a series of short documentaries highlighting inspiring stories of fans the band has met on tour. They also gave us some hints about their next album, due to be released song by song over the next few months along with an accompanying movie.

We were happy to welcome back to our studios this veteran Minnesota folk performer (originally from New Jersey) on August 28, 2015. We talked about his latest release, Bright Side of Down, which came out early last year.

Listen to our session from August 28, 2015 with this St. Paul musician, who takes an offbeat and eclectic approach to playing the accordian. We talked about how it became his primary instrument and about his main band, Cafe Accordian Orchestra, and how it differs from his solo performances.

Listen to our session with Twin Cities singer/songwriter Johnny O'Brien when he returned to our studios on August 14, 2015. He performed the same night at Thirsty Pagan Brewing in Superior.

Members of this Twin Cities Americana band joined us in the studio on July 31 2015 to give us a stripped-down preview of their full band show the same night at Fitger's Brewhouse in Duluth. The group recently released its second album, We Can do Anything.

Listen to our session with this Minnesota roots artist from May 27, 2015. He performed the same night as the opening act for Charlie Parr's CD release show.
