3/28 Live From Studio A: Dusty Heart

Mar 20, 2018

Minnesota Americana singer/songwriters Molly Dean and Barbara Jean had established solo careers before forming this duo just a couple of years ago after being invited to open a Colorado tour for Dave Simonett and Dave Carroll of Trampled by Turtles. The two released their self-titled debut album on March 16; we found out more when they joined us in the studio for a session on March 28. They played the same evening at Glensheen as part of that venue's March Unplugged series.

Dusty Heart

After Grand Marais singer/songwriter Barbara Jean moved to Minneapolis, she struck up a friendship with musician Molly Dean and the two discovered many commonalities, including a love of vocal harmony.

Recently they joined forces on this new project, backing those country-tinged vocals with guitar, fiddle, and banjo. Regular gigs have included an opening slot for Dave Simonett and Dave Carroll of Trampled by Turtles for a sold-out series of Colorado shows. They joined us in the studio on May 19, 2016.
