This week, Radio Gallery speaks with a UMD Associate Professor who has a one-of-a-kind medium, Ryuta Nakajima. He has also been a key player in the counsel that organized the UMD 2013 Annual Student Exhibition.
Nakajima is an established artist who has recently moved into a revolutionary interactive medium, in which he exposes squid to his paintings and observes the melodic ways in which they camouflage with the images. He is impressed with how the jurors of this year's student exhibition have totally different tastes have been put to play at this show, allowing for 120 different works. The reception and award ceremony for this show is Saturday, April 27th, from 6-8 p.m. That very same day, from 1-5, the Art Department will be holding their Open Studio event, involving tours, interactive exhibits, and live music.
