We have now wrapped up our Fall Studio Series, and we are gearing up for winter. Several of the artists we feature are doing the same, as many of them prepare for their winter showcases. Local art openings are a wonderful way to get out into the community, and an opportunity to find beautiful handmade Christmas gifts. This week we meet with Karin Kraemer as she prepares for the Trade and Commerce Marketplace Annual Holiday exhibit & Open House.

Although Kraemer began her career by receiving a BFA in glassblowing, she eventually found her true calling: pottery. This medium allows her to make functional artwork that local people can buy and use in their everyday life. In fact, the Duluth Grill even serves coffee in mugs made by Kraemer. On Friday, December 7th and Saturday, December 8th, Kraemer will be opening her studio to the public, as part of the Trade and Commerce Marketplace Annual Holiday exhibit & Open House. Listen as Kraemer talks about what it means to create functional artwork for our community.
