Houses at the end of their useful life provide start for new ones (lives, that is)

The pilot project that St. Louis County and the NRRI are working on is a win-win.

A number of tax-forfeited houses in the county are being deconstructed - taken apart, not demolished - to keep as many materials as possible out of landfills.

The county gets a ready-to-go lot to sell.

Craftspeople and artisans get sought-after rough-sawn lumber.

And folks who have traditionally had a hard time finding work get jobs, training and mentorship.

Make that a win-win-win-win.
