It's almost time for the Fair! Not another art fair, but the juried art exhibition that is open to all Minnesotans, The Minnesota State Fair juried Fine Arts Building exhibition.
For most competitors, blue ribbons at the county fair lead to entries and visits to St. Paul for the Minnesota State Fair. But in the fine arts there is one state-wide juried competition to enter and compete at the state fair. Any Minnesotan is eligible to enter one piece of art to compete at the state fair. In 2013 over 1800 works were submitted to the jury, with 340 pieces making the cut. So when you head to the fair this year - remember there's more than pigs and all you can drink milk. There's art too.
