Listen to our session from July 17, 2015 with this Mississippi native who's keeping the Bentonia style of blues alive. Holmes still runs the Blue Front Cafe, which was started by his parents and is one of the oldest juke joints in Mississippi. His 2006 debut album, Back to Beltonia, won three Living Blues awards, and he's since released three more discs. He performed the same night at the Red Herring Lounge in Duluth.
Listen to our session from June 10, 2015 with this group, led by Cloquet native Clark, who relocated to Portland, Oregon last year. They will be releasing a new album, recorded at Modest Mouse's private studio in Portland and produced by Grammy award winner Steve Berlin. They have a show at Pizza Luce in Duluth on June 13.
Dedric Clark & the Social Animals swung through the station to play us a few tunes and catch us up on what they've been up to since their move to Portland.
