2/18 Forever Home: Which Shelter?

You've found a stray animal in the Northland. You'd like to be sure it gets safely to an animal shelter. But...which one?

On today's Forever Home, Pat Castellano, Humane Educator for Animal Allies in Duluth gives advice on which shelter is the right one to call.  Duluth Animal Services ((218) 723-3259) is the location for strays in the City of Duluth, while Animal Allies (218) 722-5341) takes in animals found in Hermantown, Rice Lake Township, and other nearby municipalities.

Here are the Pets of the Week:

Eddy is a 4 year old male Beagle mix. Eddy came to us very shy, but he is warming up to us all nicely.. He is housebroken and has gotten along with all the other dogs and doesn't bother the cat at all. He is a cute little guy who deserves a family who will keep him forever.

Socrates is an incredibly handsome orange tabby domestic short-hair who is about 11 years old. He came to us from a previous home and is now looking for a loving home to retire in! This calm and friendly cat enjoys hanging out with his humans and getting lots of love! He would love to find a home without other cats or dogs so he can settle in without any stress.

Shilo came to Animal Allies from a previous home. She hasn't been around other animals but she did live with children. She'd rather cuddle than play, but when she does play, she likes string toys, balls, and catnip! Sometimes loud noises may startle her, but she recovers quickly. If you have space in your heart, and lap, Shilo might make the purrfect companion for you!

Mancala is a brown and white Staffordshire Terrier mix who is about 1 year old. She came to us as a stray from Duluth and is now looking for her new loving home! She is a bouncy, wiggly, ball of happiness and energy, who is looking for a home that can provide her with plenty of attention and exercise! She likes toys, laps, and playing with other dogs!
