On this episode of Ojibwe Stories: Gaganoonididaa, host Erik Redix has a conversation with Professor David Beaulieu, the new Ruth A. Myers Endowed Chair in UMD's Education Department, about his research and the future of American Indian Education.
Dr. David Beaulieu is the Ruth Myers endowed Chair of American Indian Education at the University of Minnesota-Duluth and an Emeritus Professor of education policy studies at Arizona State University where he served as the Director of the Center for Indian Education. He was a member of the Indian Nations at Risk Task Force and served as Director of the US Office of Indian Education 1997-2001. He was President of the National Indian Education Association (NIEA), serving on the board of NIEA from 2003-2006. He is a former Commissioner of Human Rights for the State of Minnesota. He is an enrolled member of the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe-White Earth Band.
