Event Description

UMD Theatre is thrilled to announce the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) has again invited UMD to perform at the Region 5 Festival in Des Moines, Iowa. UMD Theatre presents Antigone written by Sophocles and translated by Don Taylor, which is one of only seven productions selected to perform in the seven-state KCACTF regionals. KCACTF regionals runs from January 21 - 27, 2018. Due to the sold out September/October shows, and to help defray travel costs to KCACTF, UMD Theatre is hosting two encore performances of this highly acclaimed show: UMD THEATRE PRESENTS Antigone | Encore Performances Friday, January 12, 2018 @ 7:30 pm Saturday, January 13, 2018 @ 7:30 pm Dudley Experimental Theatre | Marshall Performing Arts Center One of the most enduring ancient tragedies presents universal questions of power and civic duty through a modern translation reflecting current political conflicts. Sophocles' play Antigone has uncanny parallels to contemporary American politics. Tickets available online at https://z.umn.edu/AntigoneEncore or by calling 218-726-8561. Prices are $30 for adults and $15 for Students. (Please note that the Box Office has very limited hours due to UMD's winter break. Regular box office hours resume on 1/10/18.)
